Washington Shows Off Renovated Rec Center

Computer lab among improvements

It's a field of dreams for kids in northeast Washington.

City officials showed off the new athletic field and other renovations at the Edgewood Recreation Center at Third and Evarts streets Friday. It's one of several rec center repair projects around the city.

Among the additions at the Edgewood Center are new playground equipment, a computer lab, new furniture and air conditioning.

The field repairs include new turf, fencing, lighting and bleachers.

"We are committed to investing in our communities and youth," said Mayor Adrian Fenty. "The vibrant Edgewood community and the renovations to the recreation center and field are reflective of all the activity going on here and how Edgewood is such a fantastic place for our residents."

The Washington Redskins' charitable foundation helped make renovations to the field possible.
