Washington, D.C. Named America's Fittest City

Congratulations, D.C.! The District has been named America's fittest city.

D.C.'s healthy food options, low levels of asthma and heart disease, and numerous bike paths and parks put it in the top spot, according to an annual ranking by the American College of Sports Medicine,

"The parks are accessible in Washington, D.C.," said said Walt Thompson of Georgia State University, board chair for the report. "The second interesting thing about Washington is how much money they spend per person per capita on parks: $287 per capita for every single person who lives in Washington, DC."

Minneapolis-St. Paul came in behind Washington, D.C. while last place goes to Indianapolis, Indiana.
