A 37-year-old Maryland man has been charged second degree assault after allegedly making unwanted physical contact with three of his co-workers last year.

According to a news release from Montgomery County Police, Walter S. Bowman of Indian Head, Md. was arrested Wednesday on three counts of second degree assault. Bowman, a science teacher at Briggs Chaney Middle School in Silver Spring, is also facing a false imprisonment charge.

Last August, a female co-worker reported Bowman first came up behind her and held her shoulders, and several days later, placed her in a "bear hug" and began to laugh. Police say the victim was able to break free and scream.

The next month, another female co-worker reported Bowman was crouched on the floor by her ankles, laughing.

In the same month, a third female co-worker reported Bowman -- again laughing -- approached her from behind and grabbed her waist.

Police say there may be additional victims -- but say there is no knowledge or evidence of inappropriate contact between Bowman and students.

If you have any information in the case, call police at 240-773-5530.
