The Washington Animal Rescue League has not had power since Friday's storms, doesn't know when it will be getting it back, and is trying to keep the animals staying there cool.

WARL is currently in need of the following items: ice, bedding and gas for generators. You can drop off those items at the shelter.

WARL has placed the high-risk, older animals in foster care, but still has about 150 animals at the shelter. The Rescue League rented several generators and kind-hearted folks donated fuel so industrial fans can keep the animals cool.

Officials said the animals are holding up, but they need the supplies to maintain. The bedding is needed because they are unable to wash the bedding they currently have.

Even though WARL is currently closed for adoptions, you can drop off the needed supplies at the facility now. The address is 71 Oglethorpe Street NW in the District.

According to its Facebook page, the Prince George's Animal Management shelter is still without power and is having issues with the phone lines.

If you have any towels, sheets or blankets to donate, the shelter would be very grateful. The shelter said you can drop off donations anytime at the shelter, which is located at 3750 Brown Station Rd.,
    Upper Marlboro, MD 20772.
