The Frederick News-Post reports police arrested John Woods on Thursday morning after an officer saw him trying to further ignite a gas grill that was placed against the side of a woman’s house.

According to court documents, the woman is an ATF agent that Woods is in love with, but was ignoring his attempts to contact her.

Woods has been suspended pending the outcome of the case. He has been a volunteer with Independent Hose Co. in Frederick for more than 15 years.

He told police that he had been friends with the woman for more than 20 years and was in love with her, although he had never been romantically involved with the woman.

Woods was taken to the hospital following the incident after complaining of chest pains. When he was released, he was taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing.

Woods’ bail is set at $4,000.
