A minor earthquake rattled southwest Virginia early Tuesday.

The National Geological Survey said it was a 2.5-magnitude temblor.

It hit at 12:12 a.m.

Officials say it was centered 8 miles northwest of Richlands and 7 miles north-northwest of Raven, about 50 miles from the West Virginia and North Carolina state lines.

There are no reports of damage.
