Violent Start to 2011

D.C. Police are investigating two violent shootings.

The first shooting happened early Sunday morning in the 1300 block of Congress Street in Southeast. Investigators said four adult men were sitting in a van hen someone opened fire on them.Three of the victims were taken to a nearby hospital.

The second shooting happened at the intersection of 4th and New Hampshire Avenue in Northwest. Police said two teenagers were shot on the side of the road.

Both were taken to the hospital. One of them is in critical condition.   

No arrests have been made in either incident. These two separate shootings make for a particularly violent start to 2011.

D.C. police just announced Sunday that the District's murder rate hit a 46 year low in 2010.
