An 11-month-old child found unresponsive at a Reston home died Thursday evening.

Vienna police announced they are investigating the death as suspicious.

A caregiver took the unresponsive boy from the home in the 1100 block of Lakewood Drive to his mother in Reston Wednesday. She called 911, and the child was taken first to Reston Medical Center and then flown to Children’s National Medical Center.

Police searched the home in Vienna Thursday. They are interviewing the boy's caretaker, mother and others.

A relative of the child said the death is a "nightmare." He said the boy was playful and loved to be around people.
