Video Shows Woman's Fall Onto Metro Tracks

Metro released video of a woman’s fall on to the tracks at the Eastern Market station in September.

When the woman got off the elevator there, her motorized wheelchair stopped working properly, and she fell on the tracks.

No trains were coming, and authorities helped her get back on the platform, but she says her right arm and legs were injured.

In December 2011, a man in a motorized chair was rescued by fellow riders when he fell at the Potomac Avenue station.

The woman wants Metro to install guardrails to prevent this from happening to others.

Metro maintains putting up guard rails would cause a tripping hazard for others.
