Bald Eagle Euthanized After Maryland Creek Rescue

A bald eagle that was rescued from a creek in Clarksburg, Maryland, on Saturday has been euthanized.

Videos posted to Twitter Saturday show the bird clinging to the root of a tree along Little Bennett Creek as Montgomery County Fire and Rescue workers came to its aide.

A man who was in the area said he discovered the injured bird out of the corner of his eye and then ran over to the nearby Hyattstown Volunteer Fire Department for help.

Eventually, animal rescue workers were able to scoop the eagle out of the water.

On Sunday, Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer said damage to the bird's wing was irreparable and the bird was euthanized.
