Vandals Shoot Out Car Windows in Fairfax County

Police Step Up Patrols

More than two dozen car windows have been shot out by a BB or pellet gun in Fairfax County, police say.

Four of the cars were parked at the Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center in Falls Church. About 30 cars were hit in the Falls Church/Seven Corners area, according to police.

Members of the community from different faiths gathered Saturday night to support the mosque.
Police said the vandalism near the northern Virginia mosque is not a hate crime. but a random crime spree.

Police are stepping up patrols, and the Council on American-Islamic Relations has offered a $1,000 reward for information regarding the vandalism of the cars parked in front of the mosque. According to News4's Darcy Spencer, one of the damaged cars belonged to the mosque's imam.
