Va. Elections Board to Discuss Group's Mailings

The State Board of Elections is meeting to discuss a nonprofit group's voter registration mailings following hundreds of complaints.

Board members are expected to decide at Monday's meeting how to proceed.

Board chairman Charles Judd tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch that the Voter Participation Center has agreed to stop sending partially completed forms.

Judd says the board's main concern is avoiding confusion.

Residents and election administrators around the country have reported questionable mailings by the group. The mailings were addressed to animals, dead people, noncitizens and people already registered to vote.

The group has acknowledged occasional errors in mailing lists it buys from vendors. But it denies wrongdoing.
