Va. State Trooper's Car Hit By Drunk Driver

30-year-old Alexandria woman charged with driving under the influence

A Virginia state trooper was briefly hospitalized Saturday after his patrol car was rear-ended by a drunk driver on Interstate 495.

Authorities say that Trooper K.S. Fleenor was sitting in the left northbound lane of the highway at Tysons Corner in Fairfax County with his emergency lights on while a tow truck was removing a damaged vehicle. Just after midnight Saturday, investigators say that Fleenor's car was rammed by a 2000 Oldsmobile Intrigue. The impact sent Fleenor's car into the damaged vehicle, which in turn rammed into the tow truck.

Both Fleenor and the operator of the tow truck were treated and released from Fairfax Inova Hospital.

The driver of the Oldsmobile, 30-year-old Christina Hirt of Alexandria, refused medical treatment at the scene. She was charged with driving under the influence.
