A Reston man has pleaded guilty to producing child pornography after he enticed two children to perform explicit activity that he recorded.

Twenty-seven-year-old Alex Ernesto Calderon Velasquez entered the plea on Thursday in federal court in Alexandria. He faces up to 30 years in prison at sentencing in October.

According to a statement of facts, Calderon Velasquez communicated online with a 14-year-old girl in Texas. Prosecutors say he extorted the victim into engage in sexual activity on Skype. Authorities say Calderon Velasquez also persuaded a child in Arizona to engage in sexually explicit conduct that was recorded.

Calderon Velasquez pleaded guilty to failure to appear in court after he cut off his ankle monitoring device and left the state in May. He was arrested in June in San Antonio, Texas.
