Va. Fire Intentionally Set; Person Found Dead Inside, Officials Say

The fire that destroyed a Loudoun County, Virginia, home was intentionally set, but fire officials still don't know what killed the person who was found inside.

Firefighters were called to the 14000 black of Steed Hill Lane in Lucketts just after 5 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a fire. When they arrived, flames were coming from the first and second floors of the home.

Fire officials said the home was located in a rural part of the county, making access to a water supply difficult.

Firefighters stayed at the home through the night to make sure the fire was completely extinguished. But it wasn't until Wednesday that a body was discovered inside.

The victim has not been identified, and a cause of death is not yet available.

Investigators believe someone used flammable liquids to start the fire on the second floor of the home. The home is considered a total loss.

CORRECTION (July 29, 9:09 a.m. ET): The fire occurred Tuesday, not Wednesday, and the body was found Wednesday, not Thursday.
