Virginia Offers New Bluebird License Plate

New license plate to support bluebird

Virginia has added another license plate to its collection of more than 200 designs. Drivers can now show their support for the state’s wildlife.

Virginia’s Department of Motor Vehicles is now offering the Bluebird of Happiness. It’s the eighth specialty plate offered in the Virginia Wildlife Conservationist series.

Wildlife artist and conservationist Spike Knuth came up with the design.

Once drivers buy 1,000 bluebird plates, the state Department of Game and Inland Fisheries will get $15 of the $25 additional annual plate fee.

The agency said Friday that the Wildlife Conservationist series generated more than $369,000 for its conservation efforts in the past.

The proceeds are reinvested in research, educational programs and for land purchases that preserve wildlife.
