Virginia Man Found in S.C. With Kidnapped Mom in His Trunk

    South Carolina troopers say they have taken a Virginia man into custody after finding his mother in the trunk of his car at a rest area on Interstate 95.

    The Highway Patrol said its officers were looking for the Cadillac after being told it was involved in a kidnapping in Virginia Beach, Va.

    Troopers spotted the car in a rest area near Santee around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and took the driver into custody. The mother was found in the trunk. Authorities say she did not appear to have any life-threatening injuries.

    The Highway Patrol has turned the suspect over to Orangeburg County sheriff's deputies, who have not released any information about the case.
