The heat is definitely here, and so is the humidity. But now there is a way to cool off. This weekend, communities across our region will celebrate the Memorial Day Weekend and the unofficial start to summer by rolling back the cover on the pool.

The District began their summer celebration’s Friday, with Mayor Vincent Gray opening the first pool and D.C. Recreation Director Jesus Aguirre taking the ceremonial first cannonball. In all, 17 District pools will open this weekend. Dozens of others will open in mid-June after school lets out.

In Montgomery County, seven outdoor pools will open at noon Saturday.  Alexandria City pools also open on Saturday.
