UMW Foundation Buys Hostess Property

The University of Mary Washington Foundation is the new owner of a former Hostess Brands property in Fredericksburg.

The property is adjacent to Eagle Village, a retail, office and residential complex. It includes nearly an acre of land and three buildings.

The foundation finalized the purchase from investment fund Hackman Capital last week.

Foundation CEO Jeff Rountree tells The Free Lance-Star that the university can use the property for storage, which he says is an immediate need.

He says the property also is strategically located for future development at Eagle Village.

Rountree would not comment on how much the property cost.
