Tysons Corner ATM Robbery Caught on Video

Victim was in a Bank of America ATM vestibule when she was approached by a man welding a shotgun

Fairfax County police released frightening video Tuesday showing a woman being held up at an ATM by a man with a shotgun.

The victim, a 37-year-old woman, was in a Bank of America ATM vestibule in the 8300 block of Greensboro Drive near Tysons Corner at 8:45 p.m. Sunday when she was approached by a man wielding a shotgun and demanding money.

She gave him cash and her handbag. He fled in a dark-colored, smaller, older SUV, possibly a Honda CR-V, with a roof rack and exterior spare tire. The vehicle had Virginia license plates, but the victim was unable to get a tag number.

The suspect was dressed in dark colors and had his face covered.

"That's frightening," said Michelle Baltimore, who often shops in the area.

It was the second bank robbery in Fairfax County this year, News4's David Culver reported.

"We want him bad," said Don Gotthardt of Fairfax County police. "We're going to track him down."
