Two Women Nabbed in Rest Stop Theft Case

Thefts at I-95 rest stops

And you thought expensive gas would be the worst thing you’d encounter along the highway.

Two Baltimore women were accused of stealing women’s purses at rest stops along Interstate 95 and then using the victims’ credit cards.

Maryland State Police said Ishia Carson and Yvette Jones worked as a team. One kept an eye on the parking lot while the other hung out in the restroom, often posing as a rest stop employee. Victims were told to use certain stalls and their purses would disappear.

Police said they found more than $10,000 in fur coats, jewelry, shoes and other items in the suspects’ homes – stuff allegedly purchased with the stolen credit cards.

The women face theft, fraud, forgery and other charges.

Police said they’re investigating other, similar cases and will likely make more arrests.
