Two Women Dragged in Maryland Hit-and-Run

Driver left vehicle's grill at the scene

SILVER SPRING, Md. -- Police are looking for a sport utility vehicle or pickup truck missing its grill after a hit-and-run involving two female pedestrians.

A black SUV or pickup truck struck two Silver Spring women, coworkers ages 22 and 29, while they crossed Capitol View Avenue shortly after 10 a.m. Saturday, according to Montgomery County police.

The vehicle dragged the 22-year-old woman for about 113 feet and then ran over her, authorities said. The other woman was dragged about 83 feet before losing contact with the vehicle. She is married with two children.

The driver then fled the scene, but the grill of the vehicle was left at the scene. It belongs to a Toyota SUV or pickup truck, police said.

Both women were transported to a Suburban Hospital. They have serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The 29-year-old has had surgery and is awaiting more.

Police believe the women were in the crosswalk when they were struck.

Anyone with information should call police at (301) 279-8000.
