Two Stabbed Outside D.C. Nightclub

Victims suffered non-life threatening injuries

Police in the District are investigating a double stabbing that occurred early Friday morning outside of a nightclub.

It happened before 2 a.m. on the 1300 block of 9th Street NW near the Mood Lounge club.

Police say two men were stabbed and both suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Police still have not released the circumstances of the stabbing or if a suspect has been identified.

Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans said he'd like the club closed down permanently because of the history of violent incidents there.

"Enough is enough - our residents shouldn't have to put up with this in their neighborhood any longer," Evans said in a statement.  "The strain this establishment places on our citizens, police, and city services can no longer be tolerated."

UPDATE: On Friday night, MPD Chief Cathy Lanier exercised emergency powers to shut the club down for 96 hours, a period that will extend through the weekend.
