Police Still on Hunt for Bethesda Shooting Suspect

    Police are still searching for the suspect in the shooting of a Bethesda man, who remains in critical condition after being shot while pulling into a garage at his home.

    Ashoka Mody, an economist at the International Monetary Fund, had just pulled into his garage at about 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the 6800 block of Millwood Road when police said a masked gunman shot him before Mody, 54, could open his car door.

    He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

    Police are looking for a man with a medium build who was wearing a black hoodie. He reportedly was seen wearing a black mask.

    Ashoka Moody, an IMF employee, is recovering from a gunshot wound. Police say he was ambushed while sitting in his car in his garage.

    Walt Whitman High School was locked down while police searched the area. Students inside the high school for an event were told to turn off lights and lie on the floor.

    According to a statement released by the IMF, Mody is "well known at the Fund as one of its most esteemed economists, an experienced and dedicated colleague, and a valued member of the Fund family."
