Two separate crashes in the D.C. area ended with two deaths on Christmas Day.
In Bowie, six people were hospitalized after a crash on Route 301 when a Nissan XTerra crashed into a Dodge Caravan that was making a left turn around 7 p.m. Bat Banh, 58, of Prince George's County was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Alcohol was not a contributing factor in the collision, but police say it appears that the driver of the Nissan XTerra was distracted by a GPS and failed to stop at a red traffic signal.
Several hours later, Montgomery County Police say a 1996 Ford Mustang was driving west on Randolph Road in Colesville when 46-year-old Ronald Jerome Taylor lost control, crossed two lanes and hit a 2007 Ford Mustang traveling in the same direction. The 1996 Mustang then crossed back across the lanes, and hit a center median and trees before coming to a rest.
Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene after paramedics attempted life-saving measures. The driver of the other Mustang, a 29-year-old Laurel man, was not hurt.
