Two Dead, One Injured in SE D.C. Shooting

Metropolitan police said two people were killed in a late night shooting in southeast Washington.

Police said the incident occurred on the 4900 block of B Street, Southeast, just before midnight Friday. Two men were pronounced dead, and a third victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victims are identified as Omoni Johnson, 26, of northeast Washington, D.C., and Shaheed James, 21, of Clinton, Maryland.

The shooting occurred at the beginning of an "All Hands on Deck" initiative to put more officers on the streets this weekend. It is part of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s plan to crack down on crime.

There were five other shooting scenes Friday night into Saturday morning, resulting in six more people shot and injured.
