Two Arrested in 29-Year-Old Ricky Kelly's Shooting Death

Police say two men who allegedly shot 29-year-old D.C. resident Rickly Kelly Friday morning went on a crime spree in the hours prior to the deadly shooting. 

Officers responded to the 100 block of Ivanhoe Street SW around 7:30 a.m. for a shooting. There they found Kelly, who had been shot several times and was later pronounced dead.

Later that evening, police arrested Gregory Smithwick, 22, of Northeast and Dominique Holmes, 23, of Southeast on armed murder charges in Kelly's death. 

D.C. police say the two men are also facing assault with a dangerous weapon from an incident in the 2000 block of Fort Davis Street SE around 6:45 a.m. that morning as well as an armed carjacking moments later in the 2000 block of 37th Street SE.
