Two Annapolis People Killed in Virginia Plane Crash

Virginia State Police said two people from Maryland were killed in a plane crash at Virginia International Raceway.

The crash occurred Friday afternoon in Alton. Police said no one on the ground was injured.

The two who were killed were the pilot and a passenger. State police identified the victims on Saturday as Jon Couch, 46, of Annapolis, Maryland and his mother, Frances G. Couch, 72, also of Annapolis.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board have been notified and police said the investigation is ongoing.

The Danville Bee
reports the plane was a World War II-era T28-C that crashed in an infield patch of kudzu on the 1.1 mile Patriot Course.
