No Injuries in Two-Alarm Fire at D.C. Restaurant

D.C. Fire officials say no one was injured in a large, smoky fire at a popular Northwest restaurant.

Heavy smoke was reported at the District 2 Bar & Grille around 2:30 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Preliminarily, officials believe the fire began in the restaurant's kitchen.

Bruce Johnson noticed the smoke from his apartment across the street and immediately crossed the street to warn those inside.

"I ran across the street, there were still people on the patio, even inside the bar drinking so I ran over and explained to them, 'Guys, the roof of the building is on fire, you all need to get out of here!'" he said. "At that point the staff was aware of the fire and pulled the fire alarm."
