The Secret Service said a bomb-sniffing dog detected something suspicious while inspecting a dump truck near the White House, but a thorough search uncovered nothing dangerous.

The alert from the dog led the Secret Service to close Lafayette Park and some streets around the White House for about an hour Wednesday morning.

Secret Service spokesman Max Milien said it's not clear what the dog smelled but that the truck was not a threat.
