“Out of control” is how the Ocean City Police chief describes laser pointing in the resort town.
If you thought red was the preferred color, you’re wrong -- it’s green, which are more powerful than red lasers. But it’s not the actual laser that’s against the law.
The harassing or annoying shining of laser pointers on a person is illegal in Ocean City, Md. And police have been busy locking up the laser-pointing bandits. Just from May to mid-July, 15 incidents were filed with the police, and seven arrests made.
To help the fight against laser pointing, the town council now requires retailers to post signs stating the law and to give a verbal reminder.
