    Shopping around may be your best bet when it comes to traveling for the holidays. The Washington Post gives us some of its best tips for saving money.

    Triple A said the national average price of fuel is 58 cents higher than one year ago, and it forecasts a price of about $3.40 per gallon when Thanksgiving rolls around.

    The cost of gas last Thanksgiving was $2.87 per gallon nationally.

    In Virginia, fuel averages are a bit lower than the national average. The average price of a gallon last week was $3.29 in the state. That's still half a dollar more than last year.
