As if the regular weekend traffic on the Bay Bridge wasn't frustrating enough, an accident temporarily closed the eastbound span of the bridge Sunday and backed up traffic for miles in each direction.
The accident closed the span for more than an hour at midday Sunday, the Maryland Transportation Authority said.
The transportation authority said the accident, along with traffic from a bay swim event, led to backups that stretched up to five miles.
