Traffic Delays, Water Outage in Lanham Due to Broken Water Pipe

Water could remain off for up to eight hours

Lanham residents can expect traffic problems and water outages thanks to a broken water pipe.

A 16-inch pipe broke in the 9800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, near the intersection with Forbes Boulevard, and sent water gushing into the streets Thursday afternoon.

WSSC water's maintenance crews are fixing it, turning off water to surrounding establishments, which include several businesses.

WSSC said they expect the water outage to last for four to six hours, but that it could remain off for as long as eight hours.

Significant traffic delays are expected as two of the northbound lanes on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard are shut down.
