A 2 1/2-year-old boy drowned in a backyard pool around mid-day Monday, authorities confirm.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded to the 17200 block of Sandy Knoll Drive in Olney, Md.
The child was being looking after by a person described as a caretaker. It's unclear at this time whether that person was a relative or someone paid to watch the child.
Police are trying to figure out how he was able to get into the pool.
