D.C. Council to investigate police escorts for celebrities

    Charlie Sheen just won't go away.  After months of Sheen being a watercooler topic across the country, on Thursday D.C. Council members may be discussing the controversial actor.

    The reason?  The police escort he received to his April performance at DAR Constitution Hall sparked an investigation into the police department’s policy on escorts.

    D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier is expected to testify at today’s hearing. Councilmember Phil Mendelson scheduled the hearing after the Sheen controversy surfaced. Sheen posted pictures of his ride to his Twitter account. It showed the vehicle he was in cruising at 80 mph.

    Sheen wasn’t the only celebrity to receive the royal treatment. Bill Gates, Jay-Z and John Wall have also reportedly received police escorts in the past two years.
