The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said three people have been charged in connection with the shooting death of a Virginia teen who was killed while walking to school on Friday.
The juvenile suspect, a 17-year-old, from Sterling, is charged with second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. His name cannot be released at this time, because he is a juvenile.
Two other suspects, Henry Ernesto Dominguez Vasquez, 20, and Juan Moises Aguirre Zelaya, 18, both of Sterling, have been charged with possession of a firearm by a person who is not a citizen of the United States and accessory after the fact.
Vasquez and Zelaya are both held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center. The 17-year-old is currently being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.
Danny Centeno Miranda, a sophomore at Park View High School in Sterling, Virginia, was shot multiple times as he walked from his home to a school bus stop. The shooting occurred about 8:30 a.m. at E. Cornell and N. Duke drives, according to the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Miranda was rushed to a hospital, where he died.
Witnesses reported seeing three young men flee the scene, all wearing hoodies. Investigators believe the teen knew his attackers and are investigating whether the incident was gang-related.
