Threat Prompts Evacuation of LGBT Rights Groups

Bomb threats targeting "national gay rights organizations"

Several D.C. gay rights groups were evacuated Tuesday following unspecified bomb threats received by the Los Angeles Police Department targeting "national gay rights organizations."

The D.C. Metropolitan Politce Department confirmed that their Gay and Lesbian Task Force office was targeted, along with the headquarters for the Human Rights campaign, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, and the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce.

According to Metro Weekly, which broke the story, the MPD surrounded the targeted buildings and took in bomb-sniffing dogs.

All four locations were searched, then given the all clear.
