More that 13,500 people bought a winning ticket in Virginia’s first Powerball drawing, but unfortunately no one scored the top prize.
Tickets for the multi-state Powerball game went on sale for the first time in Virginia on Sunday, and the first drawing was on Wednesday. More than 13,500 winners claimed $100,286 in prizes. Two tickets were good for $10,000 and 56 for $100.
Nobody in any of the other Powerball states won the jackpot either, so the top prize grows to an estimated $140 million for Saturday's drawing. Better luck next time!
