Former Maryland delegate Rushern Baker III officially entered the race for Prince George’s County executive Wednesday.
The Democrat from Cheverly announced his candidacy at a rally outside Iverson Mall in Hillcrest Heights.
Baker said he was proud to be a Prince Georgian.
"There is much to celebrate in Prince George's County -- her parks, her diversity, her first responders and law enforcement," he said. "But this is not a celebration. This is a rebirth."
This is Baker’s third run at the county exec office. Incumbent Jack Johnson defeated him in 2002 and 2006. Term limits prevent Johnson from running for a third consecutive term.
