"This Is a Rebirth": Rushern Baker
Rushern Baker makes another run at County Executive
Former Maryland delegate Rushern Baker III officially entered the race for Prince George’s County executive Wednesday.
The Democrat from Cheverly announced his candidacy at a rally outside Iverson Mall in Hillcrest Heights.
Baker said he was proud to be a Prince Georgian.
"There is much to celebrate in Prince George's County
-- her parks, her diversity, her first responders and law enforcement," he said. "But this is not a celebration. This is a rebirth."
This is Baker’s third run at the county exec office. Incumbent Jack Johnson
defeated him in 2002 and 2006. Term limits prevent Johnson from running for a third consecutive term.
