Thieves Rob Three Virginia Churches

Flat screen televisions, gift cards taken

Since the start of the year, thieves have broken into three Stafford County houses of worship.

“We are aggressively investigating these incidents,” Sheriff Charles Jett said. “I am asking that if any citizen has any information that may help to identify the individual or individuals responsible for these senseless acts to contact the Sheriff’s Office immediately.”

The first incident happened sometime between January 1 and 3, at the North Stafford Church of Christ on Shelton Loop Road.  The sheriff's office said thieves entered through an unlocked door, and walked out with cash, a monitor, and a flat screen T.V.

Thieves victimized a second church overnight between January 3 and January 4.  Deputies responded to the Ramouth Baptist Church, located on Ramouth Church Road, where suspects forced a window open.  Investigators said the thieves walked out with four flat screen televisions, four computers, and a camera.

The third church, Ebenezer United Methodist, was robbed early Tuesday morning.  The suspect broke a window and forced through a door to gain entry, according to deputies.  The suspects carried off a safe stuffed with gift cards.

Citizens with information on the crimes should contact the Sheriff’s Office at 540-568-4400, Crime Solvers at 540-659-2020 or text to “Stafford” plus your tip to CRIMES (274637).
