Officers were chasing two cars involved in a carjacking and robbery in Prince George's County when one vehicle stopped, two suspects got out, fired gunshots at officers and ran away, police said.

The shooting happened at about 2:30 a.m. Friday at Minnesota Avenue and Fort Dupont Park in southeast Washington.

Police searched the area and arrested two suspects near Fort Dupont Park. Police said the two were involved in a robbery on Kenilworth Avenue earlier in the night.

District Police shut down Minnesota Avenue at Randle Circle, Branch Avenue north of Pennsylvania, and Fort Dupont Drive as part of the investigation.

Police are looking for at least one other suspect who got away in the stolen car.

Police are looking for a burgundy 2004 Toyota Avalon with Maryland license plate 75460HV.

Police said the vehicle was carjacked in the 4700 block of Silver Hill Road in Suitland, Md., overnight.
