WINTRY MIX HEADED OUR WAY
The D.C. region will ring in the new year with some winter weather.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 4 a.m. until 1 p.m. Thursday for most of the WTOP listening area.

A wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain is possible in the morning. The WTOP forecast calls for sleet and snow accumulations of around an inch. Ice accumulation will be around a trace. (WTOP)

FLORIDIAN WANTING RIDE TO BAR CALLS 911
Authorities say a Florida man who called 911 claiming he'd been beaten and shot at was hoping the tale would get him a ride to a bar.

Instead, 37-year-old Gregory J. Oras is facing charges of misusing the 911 system and battery of a law enforcement officer. (USA Today)

TEENS ACCUSED OF ILLEGALLY TRAPPING BOBCAT
Two teenagers are accused of illegally trapping a female bobcat on watershed land owned by New York City.

Two boys, aged 17 and 13, were picked up by police when they were spotted checking the trap in the woods in Carmel.

The town’s police Chief Michael Johns says New York City doesn’t allow trapping on its property. The trap also was not labeled with the owner’s name, as required by state law. (NY Post)
