CAT HOUSE WORSE THAN "GERMAN PRISON CAMP"
We know what you're thinking.  "Another cat lady story?  Not again.  We've heard this one before."  Sure, but maybe not one like this.

Patti Wheeler, 52, of Chesterfield, Va., was sentenced Thursday to one year in prison for multiple counts of animal cruelty, reports the Star Exponent.  More than 50 helpless little kitties were living in squalor in a three-bedroom house, and 30 of them ultimately had to be put to sleep.

DON'T WORRY, SOUTH ASIA HAS OUR BACK
Asian central banks intervened heavily in the currency markets on Thursday to stem the appreciation of their currencies against the US dollar amid fears that their exports could be losing ground against China.

The mainly south-east Asian countries have been spurred to defend the competitiveness of their currencies by China’s decision to in effect re-peg the renminbi to the dollar since July last year. (Financial Times)

2 DEAD AT SWEAT LODGE RETREAT
Two people died and an estimated 19 others were taken to hospitals after being overcome while sitting in a sauna-like sweat lodge during a Sedona spiritual retreat, authorities said Friday.

Sixty-four people were in a crudely constructed sweat dome at the 70-acre Angel Valley resort Thursday evening, Yavapai County sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said. The resort is nestled in the forest about 20 minutes from Sedona, a resort town about 115 miles north of Phoenix that is well-known as a center for the New Age spiritual movement. (Yahoo News)

DEAD DEER IN FOUND IN CLOWN SUIT
You'll never see this clown in the circus. Animal control officers in Sioux City, Iowa, say someone dressed a dead deer in a clown suit and wig and put it on a family's porch.

Officers suspect it was a prank, considering Halloween is approaching, but they say it's not funny, safe or acceptable.

The deer was discovered Wednesday morning. (MSNBC)
