Texas Boy Dies After Struck by Car in Georgetown

An 11-year-old Texas boy has died after being struck by a car in Georgetown.

Officials said Zachary Hodges, of Dallas, suffered a severe head injury and died Monday in a hospital. Authorities said he had been struck in the 1600 block of Wisconsin Avenue in northwest Washington while crossing the street from west to east between Q and R streets at about 6 p.m. Sunday.

Ed Solomon, public safety chairman of the Georgetown Business Improvement District, said it appears the boy had been with his parents and a brother at the time.

Police said the 21-year-old driver stayed at the scene.  No charges have been filed.
