Teens Robbed for Their Sneakers

Two teens were robbed at gunpoint for Nike sneakers Wednesday, and one is recovering from a gunshot wound to his arm.

Police say robbers attacked two teens outside a convenience store in the 2000 block of Alabama Avenue SE. One of the gunman started an altercation inside the store, then moved outside.

Police sources tell News4 that the one robber's gun misfired, striking one of the teens in the arm.

The robbers got away with Nike Tim Duncan shoes worth more than $200.

"Terrible to know that someone would think tennis shoes are worth shooting someone over," said a nearby resident.
