Even for veteran law enforcement officials who see crash sites often, the scene was "horrific."
A gray Honda Civic was almost cut in two.
Prince William County police said 19-year-old Mohammed Wali was driving his Honda alone along Dale Boulevard at about 3:15 p.m. Friday. Police said the teenager was speeding when he lost control and crossed the median into oncoming traffic.
That's when a woman driving a white GMC Safari van slammed into the car. Mohammed died at the scene.
The woman and her 4-year-old daughter were airlifted to a nearby hospital. While both are expected to be OK, police said the woman will probably be charged for not having the child in a child safety seat.
Wali was a student at Freedom High School, where he was taking one final night class to graduate. His younger brother told News4 he will remember Mohammed's "smile, style and work ethic."
