Teen Struck, Killed by State Police Cruiser

Maryland State Police said a 16-year-old boy was killed after he and his brother crossed a highway into the path of a trooper's cruiser in Berlin, Md.

Police said the trooper tried to take evasive action but couldn't avoid running into the boys. Tymeir Dennis, 16, was taken to a hospital, where he died. His brother, Tyheym Bowen, was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment.

The accident occurred around 8 p.m. Friday on Route 113. Police said they don't know why the two brothers ran into the path of the car.

Trooper Nicholas Hager, 21, is assigned to the Berlin barrack and has been a trooper for 1 year. He was also taken to a hospital for treatment.
