A 15-year-old girl faces charges for a beating caught on tape outside the L’Enfant Plaza Metro station.

Allen Haywood, 47, said he was reading a book that Sunday, January 3 evening at the station when a group of four people walked up to him and started beating him for no apparent reason. Haywood said he was hit over the head more than a dozen times.

Haywood spoke with NBC4's Pat Collins about the attack prior to the arrest.

Metro Transit Police said someone came forward with information about the attack. That led police to make the arrest. Authorities said the person who supplied the tip will remain anonymous, as well as anyone else that comes forward in the future to give any other tips.

Detectives say the 15-year-old girl arrested confessed to her role in the attack and was taken into custody on Friday. Her trial date has not yet been determined.
