Authorities say that the officer was in his cruiser on Contee Road in Laurel when he heard something strike his driver's side door, just under the window. Believing he was being fired on, the officer requested a search.

Later, officers stopped and arrested 16-year-old Andre Rivers, of Laurel, near the intersection of Contee Road and Edinburgh Lane. The officers also recovered a BB gun. Rivers is facing first-degree assault and other related charges. He is currently being held on $75,000 bond.
